Day 22 of the 30 for 30 Challenge. Today is one of those days where nothing quite came together right for the pictures. Normally I wouldn't post, but since we're doing the challenge I felt some obligation. Maybe it was the hair, the indoor location (gotta love that Seattle rain!), or the fact I was running late and didn't have time for reshoots. Whatever it was, I am sticking to the challenge and posting!

Do you ever have days where nothing is going right, but you feel the need to post anyway?
Day 20 of the 30 for 30 Challenge! I don't know about you, but I want day 31 to come so badly I can taste it. I have some beautiful clothing that was gifted to me by my mom that I can't wait to wear. I'm being true to the challenge though, no cheating! A lot of bloggers are switching out items that they haven't worn or are shopping, but I'm making sure to stick by all the rules until the 30 days are over!

I knew better than to take my pics in direct sunlight, but I ignored my instincts. The shadows and squinting? I knew better! Oh well! This was my first attempt at wearing something other than sweatpants since Thanksgiving. I've been curled up inside eating leftovers and watching episodes of Dexter back to back. It is a beautiful sunny day (no snow like this time last week!) so I had to get outside.
I was tagged by Jodi of day2daywear to reveal seven secrets about myself, and then pass this on to seven other bloggers. I have enjoyed reading fellow bloggers' secrets and getting to know new blogs! So, without futher adieu, my seven secrets:
I have a subscription to Life & Syle magazine. I do not admit this people I first meet because it usually makes people think I'm shallow!
I have been in school for my whole life and just graduated in August with a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Most therapists dislike Dr. Phil... I think he's pretty alright.
If my apartment was on fire and I had to choose between saving people or my two kitties I would save the kitties.
If my workplace ever read the funny emails I exchange with my buddy/ co-worker Jessica, we'd have some major 'splaining to do!
I'm semi-addicted to Zumba. I love the workout and learning the new dance moves, but crack up whenever I catch myself in the mirror. I'm trying to look cool and failing miserably.
I cannot be trusted near a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
I'm not a kid person at all, but I pull it together for my niece and fiance's nieces and nephews. They are the only kids I can get along with. I try, but kids and me are like oil and water. That is why I only do therapy with adults, no children!
And a little something extra for you because I like you...
I've gotten a few emails about who my fashion icons are. I could say the name of some celebrities that I like, but I choose to take fashion advice from my Mom!
Okay, there is an explanation for this. Two years ago, when my little sister graduated from college, we all went out to the campus bars to celebrate. We asked our mom to come with us, but she thought we didn't really want to go to the bars with our mom. WRONG! We called her and begged "Please come out with us, we're having such a good time!" So she, and two of her sisters, got all dressed up in the most mismatching clothes they could find, piled on tons of gawdy makeup and jewelry, did their hair all crazy and came and found us at the bars. When they walked into the bar, all eyes were on them as they came running over shouting "Kinsey!! Rachel!! Yohoo!!" They were trying to embarrass us, but we we both so happy to have a table with the most beautiful ladies at the bar. We all had a lot of fun that night, and I always remember how "fashionable" she looked that night!
Day 17 of the 30 for 30 Challenge! I am so happy to be more than halfway done! I'm going to keep it short and sweet today. The roads out there are awful and I have to drive to work slowly to keep safe so I need to leave early!

Now I wish I would have included more boots in my 30 for 30. It looks like all I'll be wearing for the next few days is boots, no heels in the snow and ice!
Yesterday was one of those awful snowy days in Seattle. I'm a Midwest girl, so a little snow never hurt anyone when I was growing up. Out here it is a different story. Barely a few inches fell, but the streets and interstates were basically shut down. It took me 5 hours (5 HOURS!!!) to drive 40 miles! So, lucky for me, today is a snow day.
Below are a few of the pictures I started taking yesterday before my camera battery died. The plan was to retake the photos when I got home from work. Unfortunately, this plan did not include me waiting for 5 hours (5 HOURS!!!) in my car on the way home. I decided to just use the ones I took yesterday morning instead of retaking them in the dark and snow.

The snow started innocently enough. I had no idea that the city would shut down just a few hours later! Below are the pictures I took today. It is actually Day 16, but since I didn't have any number pictures yesterday I decided to hold up 15.
My camera battery died on me this morning after I had taken about three photos. I didn't have enough time to charge it and retake pictures before I had to leave for work so outfits pics will be posted later on today. I did a wrap-up of the first half of the challenge so far.
I'd love your feedback. Which one of these looks is your favorite?
Day 14 of the 30 for 30 Challenge! The first snowfall came today. As you can tell, it did not stick. Still, people did not venture out of the house. Except, of course, for the very brave (aka people who had brunch plans with their in-laws). Since today was cold, I had the best Italian hot chocolate in the city (at The Olive and Grape in Greenwood for my Seattle followers) and warmed up. I also got some posing advice from Mama Turk: the pigeon toed look is out.

It's a scientifically proven fact that my parents are the best parents in the world. Here is proof: last week my Mom knew I was having a hard week and flew from Indiana to Seattle just to spend the weekend with me. She booked her tickets last minute and flew out to be with me. How awesome is that?? It pretty much takes your whole day to fly one way, so she really put a lot of effort into her trip. She also bought me this lovely bag when she was here. I have been carrying it around since last weekend because I love it so much. Thanks Mom!!!
