Stair Master

Only 4 days in and 2011 is shaping up quite nicely.  This is my last week of work in Seattle and this time next week I will be on the open road driving my car full of clothes back to Indiana.  I am beyond excited and wish I was on my way now, but I've got an exciting birthday weekend planned so I guess I better stick around.
 Top: NY & Co.
Skirt: Banana Republic
Blazer: H&M
Shoes: Steve Madden
Belt: Old Navy
Bag: Coach

I love this skirt, but I haven't worn it in almost two years.  I bought it to wear to my little sister's college graduation and for some reason I never found another occasion to wear it.
It is a beautiful silk material that seems too formal for work, but since it's my last week I might as well go out with a bang!  Most of my co-workers wear jeans, and "dressed up" means khakis, so needless to say I am usually way overdressed for work.  It doesn't bother me in the slightest!  My best buddy (and jean queen) at work Jessica always sighs when she sees me walk into work in heels and a skirt, because she prefers me in pants.  Her eyes light up on the rare occasion I wear jeans to work.  Sorry Jess, no jeans today!
Do you ever over dress for work?

PS: I just HAVE to share this link with all of you.  It is from one of my favorite bloggers, Molly.  It cracked me up and made me laugh out loud in my cubical at work.  I definitely got a look from my cube mate Steve.  Ooops, I guess I got caught checking fashion blogs at work!

Well hello sassy career lady.

I tend to be the same way at work. It's a casual work environment but I tend to dress up too! It's more fun and gets me more in the motivated mood.

Sometimes I think I overdress for work, but we dress for ourselves, right? I do wear jeans and dress down more often than most style bloggers, but I work in an EXTREMELY relaxed work environment and my office is literally referred to as the "bat cave." NO ONE comes back here, no one sees me, I keep the lamp stand on and no florescent lights... So really, I dress for myself and I feel better when I give it a good shot! You look awesome, as usual. You know I think you have like... the BEST legs ever. If I were you, I'd wear skirts all.the.time.

I wouldn't say I'm over dressed, but my take on business casual is, well, let's say unique.

You look so good who cares if you're overdressed! Honey, Lise and I are overdressed for our whole county much less work! LOL

I had a job like that too once, where khakis and polos were considered really dressed up, and casual fridays meant ripped jeans and flip-flops. I even saw someone wearing a tracksuit once. Needless to say, I was always overdressed.

Anyway, you look great, I really like the plaid and the pop of color in your belt!

Yeah our dress code is business casual but I just. . .can't. . . do it. So I opt for what I call "business fabulous". I don't get too much crap for it, in fact the most unlikely people at the office are the ones most excited to see what I'm wearing on any given day.

Overdress for work? Me? No, rearley overdress for anything. You just look extra cute in jeans lady:) You look nice in your skirts too. Thats why I gave you the nick name "Heels."

You look fantastic. I used to get too dressy for work when I worked in a casual environment mainly because I enjoy being a girl! I say, "Keep it up."

Also, thanks for the linky love, friend.

I'm currently doing a field experience in the field I will soon be working in (teaching high school English) so I always dress up so I look as old as possible. I'm a senior in college, teaching juniors in high school.

Those stair pictures are amazing! The skirt kind of reminds me of a silky tulip. Isn't the last week of work always the best? I love how everything seems a bit brighter even though it's hard to say goodbye. I usually cry. I'm always over-dressed for work. I work with immigrants and refugees so most of my coworkers are super casual so as not to be intimidating. I always go for whatever makes me happiest and I'm pretty sure that's how I can serve clients best!

What a gorgeous skirt and it's so flattering! I would rather be overdressed than underdressed, not matter what the situation is!
