I love me some sun.  I love sun when I'm out for a jog.  I love sun when I'm out on the boat with family.  I love the sun when I'm on my porch reading a good book.  I don't, however, love the sun when I'm trying to take my IKC pictures.  Crazy shadows, harsh lighting, and squinty eyes are no bueno.  Good thing I can rock my signature pose and avoid looking into the sun.
Ginham shirt: Mossimo
Top: Chicos
Skirt: LOFT
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Collection
Belt: Old Navy

I had an audience of one when I was taking these pictures.  A creepy man from my apartment complex watched me take every. single. shot.  I even did the "oh I'm just taking pictures of this brick wall, don't mind me!" move, but he stayed there and just watched like a creeper.  I'm a pro so I stuck it out even though I wanted to run away.  Next time that happens, I'm going to flip my camera around and start taking pictures of the creeper. Then we'll see how fast he moves...

My Signature Pose

One of the things that I have been happy to discover while doing IKC for the past few months is that my friends are really supportive of it.  They volunteer to help me take pictures, come along on "shoots", check it out often, and send me little messages of encouragement when they like whatever outfit I've got on that day.  It makes me feel really great to have friends and family members that read IKC (and yell at me if I'm slacking on posting).

As supportive as they are, they still like to make fun of me over it too.  Let's be real, how weird is it that we (meaning my collective blogger buddies aka YOU!) get dressed in the morning, take pictures of ourselves, sometimes spending hours(!!) on a post, and publish it for all to see.  Sometimes I wonder who the heck cares what you're wearing Kinsey?  But, the truth is, that I do it almost every day because I love it.  So my buds like to tease me over my "signature pose". My friend Jimmy likes to say "I always wonder what is so interesting happening off to the left, because you're always looking away."

So today I went back through IKC photos and discovered... he is totally right.  What IS so interesting to the left??  The proof is in the pudding (what does that even mean people?)...

And what about these almost identical poses??

My boyfriend even got in on the action by recreating my "signature pose" for me...

Pretty dang close...

What is your "signature pose"?

Walk on Water

I seem to have fantastic timing when it comes to taking blog pictures.  I snapped these pictures (with the help of some fantastic friends) right before the skies opened up and rained all over Indianapolis.  The above picture is cropped to keep your eyes from melting out of their sockets at the sight of a couple making out like high schoolers to the left.  I'm all for a little PDA (a little pat on the butt or a quick kiss is super fun), but making out in public is best left for the drunkies.
 Top: F21
Skirt: LOFT
Jacket: H&M
Heels: Steve Madden

I love the combination of the leather jacket, lace detailing on the tee, and the ruffles on the skirt.  Something about the hard and soft of this outfit appeals to me.
What unexpected combinations do you like?

The Clash

I'd like to take a few seconds to point out the sheer awesome-ness of my 'do.  My messy blogger bun was done in by the wind.  I almost didn't want to take blog pics today because of the hair factor, but like so many of you have said before, I need to keep it real.  This isn't by any means my first bad hair day featured online.  This is how I look today, so on IKC it goes!
Top (actually a dress): F21
Skirt: Merona
Cardigan: Macy's
Belt: Old Navy
Shoes: Steve Madden
I've shown you how to wear a dress as a shirt before, so this is an old trick in my book.  I love this dress, but it's pretty full at the bottom so I had some trouble stuffing it inside a fitted pencil skirt.  If anyone has any tips on how do this a bit more elegantly (instead of shoving it in the skirt), please let me know!
Do you post with bad hair days?

Blog Lovin' 2.0

I got a lot of positive feedback from my last Blog Lovin' post featuring some of my favorite blogs.  I love discovering new fashionable ladies (and select men!) that inspire me.  You may know and love some of these bloggers already, but visit the ones you don't know- you won't regret it!

Tiffany is a fellow redhead who is never afraid to wear color.  Her outfits always feature some bold detail, whethere it's a funky animal print, a cute piece of jewelry, bright tights, or great color blocking.  She also features lots of DIYs that I am too inept to try (but a girl can dream, right?).   Check her great Florida style out, you will LOVE her!

Kate from All Things Kate
Kate is super adorable.  That is the best word to describe her: adorable.  She has a sweet and feminine style that really works for her.  Did I mention she has great hair?  I'm kinda jealous every time I see her posts... She also features interior design posts which I also enjoy.  I know you'll like her just as much as me!

One of my favorite thing about Seattle-based blogger Kimmie, is her great photos!  I love that she features downtown Seattle in lots of her photos.  I always recognize where she is and get excited!  On top of the great photos, she has a great minimalist look that is always chic.

Karima from No Dress Code
I discovered Karima though a tweet from Jessica Simpson Collection after she posted herself wearing some really amazing turqouise sandals.  I've been hooked every since.  Her blog is relatively new, so check her out now!  She is super cute, and case pose like a MFer!

Do you have any great bloggers that I might not know about?  Let me know!!

Won't You Be My Neighbor?

Today I got my fashion inspiration from one of history's greatest style icon.  No, not Jackie O or Elizabeth Taylor.  My fashion ispiration was this handsome fellow...
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood...
Top: F21
Skirt: LOFT
Cardi: Mr. Roger's closet Banana Republic
Shoes: Jessica Simpson Collection

I love this cardigan, because it is super soft and comfortable.  I need to start taking cues from my favorite childhood TV characters more often.  Tomorrow's outfit will be inspired by Punky Brewster or my all time fave DJ Tanner.
I'll admit that when I was younger, I had a massive girl crush on DJ Tanner.  She was cute, stylish (I mean, check out those bangs!), and had a handsome boyfriend (oh Steve).  I wanted to BE DJ Tanner, but alas, it was not meant to be.
Did you ever want to be just like a specific TV character when you were growing up?
