In Kinsey's Bedroom

So I get a lot of emails from my readers asking me about my personal style, life, and rando other topics.  One of the questions I get asked the most is what my home looks like.  When I first started this blog, I lived in an apartment in Seattle which I loved... mostly.  See, I HATED the way it was decorated.  Everything was brown.  Brown couches, brown bookshelves, brown accessories. I was drowning in brown, but I felt like I was too far in to redecorate completely.

So when I moved back to Indiana, I was happy to have a fresh start.  This weekend I tackled a DIY project with my dad to refinish my old bedroom furniture.  The dresser and bookshelf were old roughed up oak pieces.  I'm not a big fan of wood tones, so those had to go.  After a day of sanding, painting, and attaching all new hardware I am pretty happy with the results.  So readers, welcome to my bedroom!

You Are My Sunshine

It was a nice sunny day here in Indiana!  Not very warm, but sunny is always better than not sunny.  I channeled that sunshine in my outfit today.  I have had these two pieces for a while now, but I have never thought to wear them together until today.  I got a lot of "Cute dress!" comments today, and I had to explain that it was a top an skirt combo.  I can't wait until I'm not pale as a ghost so that these bright colors look even more vibrant.  Summer can't get here fast enough!

I practically lived in this skirt during my last 30 for 30.  I didn't think I would want to bring it back so soon, but it was my MVP and most favorite piece so I couldn't resist.  Have you worn anything for your 30 again yet?

Tiers in Heaven

What a difference a day makes.  Just the other day it was perfect and sunny and warm, and today?  Today it is cold as ice out there.  No sunshine, just gray skies.  Didn't I move away from Seattle?  Indiana is definitely giving off a Pacific Northwest vibe today.  I'm over it!  Dear Mother Nature, bring back my warm Spring afternoons please!

I Want Candy

The weather was ab-so-lute-ly beautiful yesterday in Indianapolis.  The sun was shining, the breeze was blowing, and there were lots of men running shirtless along the canal.  All in all it was a perfect Spring day in Indiana.  I thought I'd celebrate the return of warm weather (and today's return of cold weather) by wearing one of my favorite dresses.  I picked this dress up from Banana about two years ago on super sale.  I think it was around 12 bucks.  I've worn it only three times.  Once on a date, another on Easter 2009, and yesterday.   Glad to know my 12 bucks is working for me.  

My best buddy Karin stopped by my new apartment this week and brought me this brightly colored sucker.  It was deeeelish!  She snagged it from an event at her workplace.  Thanks Karin, I can always count on you to help me fulfill my sugar cravings.  There is a story about our favorite cookies that will have to be saved for another day, but needless to say it involves consuming copious amounts of Keebler goodies...

Laugh Lines

I always love catching up with my good friends.  Last night I went out to dinner with some friends from Purdue, and I had a great time.  Girl talk is always essential, and there was plenty of it going on while we were hanging out.  My friend Schnauz (whose apartment looks like it it is out of a magazine) was really sweet and helped me out with my pictures.  I have been lucking out lately and finding people who are willing to stand in as photographer du jour for IKC.  While she snapped pictures, my friend Paige was cracking me up from the sidelines.  Scrolling though the pictures I see that I was laughing in 99% of them.

So, I have to be honest.  This is not what I looked like today at work.  Honestly, I looked more like this...

Due to some faulty alarm setting skills, I woke up at 7:35 this morning.  I was supposed to be at work orientation at 8:00.  I was half an hour away.  I looked a straight up mess, so please forgive me for not wanting to document that tragedy...

Blue's Clues

Today was the first truly nice day of the year.  It is warm and breezy and just perfect.  I got out of work early and took a little walk on the canal downtown before heading home.  I cannot wait for all of the days to be this nice.  It's so hard to be inside at work when the sun is shining like today!

Spring Fever

Alright everyone, truth time.  I got scolded by my mom for not posting in so long.  When I saw her last night, she urged me to post soon or else people would lose interest in me.  This week personal and professional obligations have made it sort of difficult to post.  I started a new job on Monday and have to adjust to the new schedule.  Excuses, excuses right?

This Rebecca Taylor dress is one of the most worn items in my closet.  I've worn in three times since starting this blog a few months ago (here and here).  I usually only wear my dresses once or twice in a whole year, so you can tell how much I love this dress.  The colors, the pattern, and ruffles... Everything about it is adorable to me.  It is sort of my go-to outfit if I need something quick for a date or a fun night with the girls.  Some girls have their LBD; I have my LfloralyD!

She's So Lucky

So I'm a pretty lucky girl.  I uprooted my life in Seattle to move home with no job prospects or place to live.  Now, less than two months later, I have a plum new job and a new apartment.  Not only that, but today is my office's "Late Holiday Party".  I went to my old job's holiday party during the actual holiday season, and now I get a second one.  Who gets two holiday parties in one year?  Lucky, right?
