Thief!

Okay, I have to admit something.  I am a thief.  A big stealer.  I learned that stealing was bad when I was a kid, but I guess it never really sunk in.  I stole (wait for it) this outfit idea from none other than my former Redheaded Blogger Swap buddy Tiffany!  A while back I sent her this top to remix, and I loved what she did so much that I stole the idea for myself.

Matchy Matchy

This outfit is one my dear mother would call "matchy matchy".  I always think of her when I match colors or patterns because she always says "I don't want to be too matchy matchy!"  The top matches the shoes and the bracelet matches the belt.  My mom would be so disappointed... I found this top at an old vintage shop in Seattle.  I've worn it only a handful of times, but it was only $12, so to me it's a steal.  Whenever I thirft or buy vintage, I always wonder who wore the garment before me.  I imagine some Designing Ladies-esque woman trapesing around Seattle hoping the frequent rain didn't stain her precious shirt.

Confession time: I have mad love for the best smelling guy on the planet.  He left this shirt at my apartment and I promptly snatched it up for nap time because it smelled like him.  Cheesy, I know, but he brings it out in me.

Movie Star Shoes

Do you ever forget about a part of your company's dress code until you're already at work breaking it? No?  No, of course not, not my followers.  You are all too smart to pull such a silly move (like taking pictures during a crazy lightening storm, perhaps?).  Today I arrived to work in some peep toe heels just in time to remember that you can't wear open toed shoes anymore.  I spent the majority of the morning hiding my toes behind desks and chairs, only to have clients loudly proclaiming their love for my shoes.  One woman yelled (from the other end of the loooong hallway, mind you) "Hey girl, love those shoes!  Those are movie star shoes!"  Thanks for the compliment, but I'm trying to be stealth here lady...

Smart Girl

I'm a smart girl.  No, really I am.  I have a Master's degree, lots of thoroughly read books on my bookshelf, and a professional career...  You just wouldn't know it by looking at me today.  I got the bright idea to do outfit pictures in Indiana's equivalent of a hurricane.  Lightening was striking all around me, thunder was rattling my camera tripod, and rain was pouring down so hard you couldn't even see to drive.  The rain let up for about five minutes so I ran to do pictures.  Not so smart considering this is what was happening in Indianapolis...

These boots, my beautiful leather boots are now soaked with rain water.  They are a nice dark brown color so if they are stained then at least they're stained a cute color.  But leather boots in the rain?  I swear, really I am a smart girl...

Father's Day

This year, I'm kinda bummed because instead of getting to spend Sunday with the World's Number One Best Dad (it's official guys, for real), he'll be soaking up some sun and enjoying Las Vegas!  I love my dad, and I can honestly say that I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing if it wasn't for his positive example.  I followed in his footsteps to become a therapist, but I also inherited his weird sense of humor, generosity, and fun-loving attitude.  I guess being a dad to five happy and productive kids means you did something right Dad!  I wanted to share a little glimpse into my life with my main man Dennis the Menace (aka Dad)!

I've been so lucky to have a good man like my dad in my life these past 25 years.  I love him a lot and I'm so glad that I get to see him more often now that I've made the move back to my home state of Indiana.  However, I haven't always had the best boys in my life.  Sarah from Wearing It on My Sleeves did a great tribute to crappy exs  (seriously people, read the comments!) and it got me thinking:  I've had a few duds in my past...

Dear Mr.Cocky:  You didn't want a girlfriend when I met you, but as soon as I got a new boyfriend you wouldn't stop calling me.  I don't think your girlfriend now would appreciate that...


Dear High School: You were super cute, but I'm glad I moved on because I'm not sure that you're doing anything with your life right now.  Moving on!


Dear Turkish Delight: Always had a good time with you, but I never felt good about myself with you so splitting was best for both of us!  Sorry about the iPod dock, totally took it as a parting gift!

Thrifty Nifty

Yesterday mi amiga Allison and I went out to dinner at my new favorite restaurant.  I had a blast with her.  After some din, we hit up the thrift stores to work on our costumes for an upcoming theme party.  What better to wear to a thrift store than I top I picked up at a thrift shop back in Seattle?  I love this top, but sometimes I have a tough time wearing it because of the cut.  Tucked into a denim skirt and belted it looks modern and cute.

My Romance

If you've followed my blog for any length of time, it becomes pretty apparent that I love feminine romantic clothing.  I've never met a cute floral dress or a ruffled cardi I didn't like.  That being said, I've combined some of my favorite romantic elements for today's outfit.  Floral top (actually a dress) with ruffle accent? Check. Pink cardigan? Check.  Feminine skirt and heels? Double check!  I've tried the menswear look but it never looks rights on me.  Maybe those two big things called boobs attached to my body make it a hard look to pull off.  I'll stick to the girly clothes I love so much.
