LOVE

"Love" is one of my favorite words.  I use it to describe my passion for everything from fall weather and Christopher Guest movies to kittens and air hockey.  I love love.  My boyfriend, on the other hand, is the complete opposite.  I've never once heard him drop the L-bomb when referring to anything as mundane as chinese food (okay, who doesn't LOVE chinese food?).   I'm trained as a marriage and family therapist, so the core belief in the power of love is what keeps me in business.  So, since I have a love affair with the word "love", it makes sense that I'd wear it on my shirt.

The looks that are inspiring me this week

Veronika of tick tock vintage is inspiring me to break out more of my Mr. Roger's sweaters.  I have tons of them, and this is the perfect time of year to transition my summer to fall wardrobe by adding one!

 Sarah from Wearing it on my Sleeves is inspiring me to try a bold and unexpected accessory.  I'm not much of an accessory gal (you may or may not have noticed I rarely wear more than the same pair of earrings and ring), but her self-made removeable collar has me rethinking my stance.

 Jenn from the Suburb Experiment is inspiring me to bring bold patterns to my look this week.  I love her new cardigan, and by pairing it with neutrals, she allows it to really stand out.  Love.

Tatiana from Love, Life, Lace is inspiring me to buy red pants already!  When I was in college, I had a great pair of skinny red jeans and I donated them when I moved out of state.  What a terrible mistake that was!  I could have had my awesome jeans, but instead some lucky lady is parading around Indiana in them.  Le sigh.  (I guess she is also inspiring me to NEVER donate any clothes and keep them all all forevereverever)

 Monkeyface (if that is your real name) from Hello, Monkeyface! is inspiring me to give menswear another try.  It looks weird and boxy on me because of these things we call boobs, but looking at her casual menswear-inspired outfit, I am ready to give it another go!

Rules of Attraction

This is another one of the outfits I wore when I was at the therapy conference last weekend.  One of the presentations I attended was focused on attraction during therapy; either client attracted to therapist or vice versa.  Interesting fact: nearly 95% therapists will experience being attracted to a client or having a client be attracted to them.

These pictures were taken at the Ft. Worth Water Gardens over the weekend.  It was a calming and serene park near the convention center where the conference was held.  My dad, who is also a therapist and attended the conference with me, helped snap my pics.  Thanks Dad!

Rojo Caliente

This is one of the outfits I wore last weekend at the therapy conference I attended in Ft. Worth, TX.  I figured if I was going to go with a bold color palette and big hair Texas was the place to do it, right?  I've had the idea for an all red outfit for a while, but I'm just getting around to it now.  Perfect example of how a monochromatic color scheme can be bold without overpowering.

25 Years Ago

Twenty-five years ago this man was born.  I wouldn't meet him until much later, but I'm thankful for the experiences he has gained because they have shaped him into a wonderful man that I love very much.   He is kind, generous, romantic, goofy, intelligent, handsome and today he is one year older.

In Kinsey's Closet: Best of the Year

In case you missed it, In Kinsey's Closet celebrated it's one year blogiversary this week!  It's been such a great year, and it has really helped me define my style.  Over the past 12 months I've featured almost 300 different outfits (300!!!); some of them great, some of them not-so-great.  I wanted to feature a recap of some of my favorite looks and photos from my first year with IKC!
