My Outsides Are Cool

This has got to be one of my most favorite color combinations.  A striking cobalt paired with chic black.  I remember in high school I heard a classmate make fun of someone wearing black and blue together, and she had even gone far enough to call the girl "soooooo dumb". What?!  Also, high school.  Not anyone's shining moment.

I won't ever forget that mean girl, but I definitely hesitated when reaching for this color combo for a few months.  Now I simply don't care if anyone thinks my outfits match or if this color goes with that- I just wear what I like and feel good in.  Hope that doesn't make me "soooooo dumb", but if it does I will wear that label loud and proud!

Sequins and Lace

I've been on a bit of a pink shoe kick recently haven't I? Yesterday they blended in perfectly with my colorful ensemble, but today they stand out on their own.  For some reason the phrase "pop of color" really grinds my gears, so I'm not going to use it... but... these shoes do stand out with my black and white look.

I know I've been looking forward to wearing my cape again.  It's perfect for those weeks when the weather is starting to change but not quite freezing yet.  It doesn't offer much in the way of warmth, so I will be wearing the heck out of it until I can't stand the temperatures anymore!

Mother Knows Best

I gotta give it up to mom for knowing my tastes, and always being on alert for something she thinks I'd like.  It seems like she's calling me once a month telling me where she saw a nice coat at a good price or when she finds amazing deals on high heels.  Case in point: these shoes!  I remember her calling me telling me she found a great pair of hot pink Coach pumps with a stacked heel.  "Do you think you'd like those?"  YES MOM!  I am lucky to have a lady like her always looking out for my best (fashion) interests.

Thanks Mamacita!

Come Sail Away

We've had an unexpected warm front in Indiana this week, so I get to eek out another few days of bare legs before I am forced to break out the tights and pants full time.  This is fine with me!  We have to enjoy this weather before another Polar Vortex hits us in a few months.  According to "them" it's only a matter of time... Let's celebrate with minis and knee high boots, shall we?

I've been a bit obsessed with these boots over the past few weeks.  They are surprisingly comfortable, and I convince myself they go with anything.  I swear I have other footwear, I really do! Any fall pieces you find yourself wearing over and over again?

New Hair Don't Care

In case you skipped the title and this first photo, I gots me a hair makeover.  I have been red on and off for the past four years, and I was getting bored of the same old style and color.  I had been dying to mix it up, but waited til after I tied the knot last month to take the plunge, er make the chop.  I lobbed off more than four inches and went for a warm brunette.  My hair already feels healthier!

About two and a half years ago my regular stylist moved, so I found someone new without asking around for referrals.  It ended up being a huge mistake, and I sat in the styling chair more than 10 hours over two days while a nervous cosmetologist tried to fix my hair.  I swear she turned me into Ronald McDonald, then overcompensated and turned my hair purple until I begged to her to just stop.  I ended up having to cut several inches because my hair was toast.  I took a break from coloring and heat styling for a long while, but the damage was done.  My hair still hadn't recovered, so I was ready to chop it and start over again.  I'm beyond thrilled with the results!

Time to Say Goodbye

It seems that I have been saying a lot of goodbyes recently.  I said adios to a few coworkers who are moving onward and upward this week.  I also had to officially say goodbye to my beloved summer.  Yup, it's officially tights weather no matter how badly I want to keep rocking bare legs.  I had to dig deep into my dresser drawers for these bad boys.  Looks like it is time to stock up on my favorite cheapie tights, because I'll be wearing them in every color all fall and well into winter. So bye bye warm weather and hello shivers!

Public Service Announcement

I'm going to share an embarrassing story with you all.  I'll start by saying that I had this outfit picked out the night before I wore it.  I got to work only to remember that I had to get my mandatory flu shot that day.  No big right?  That is until I got into the nurse's office only to realize that my sleeves didn't roll up enough to expose my arm.  Since I was wearing this vest over my button up, I didn't worry about wearing a cami, so when I had to take of my vest and open my shirt to expose my arm I basically had to flash the nurse.  Ahem, the male nurse.  So I was sitting there shirt open trying to maintain my last ounce of modesty by covering up with my vest.  The nurse told me I would be surprised how many people have to strip to get their upper arms free for the shot, but I'm pretty sure he was trying to make me feel better about being semi-nakedy.   So here is my PSA: wear something that you can slip off easily or roll up when you get your flu shot!

I Love Shirt

My husband is one of those guys who refuses to say he "loves" anything except certain people.  He won't tell you how much he loves fast cars, local breweries or our favorite little munchkin Nuke.  He's actually told me before "I like that the appropriate amount a person should like food" when I asked him how much he loved the calzone we were splitting (and it was a good calzone people).  Soooo, he would never use the L-word to describe how he feels about a shirt... but I will.

I friggin love this shirt guys.  It is so versatile and perfect for fall.  I throw it on over tee shirts, layer it under cardigans and blazers and wear it tucked into pencil skirts.  I belt it, I tie it, I let it hang open.  It's just a perfect simple wardrobe staple that I love.  Did I mention it's comfortable?  Yeah, super comfortable too. So there, I said it.  I love shirt.

Thanks Emma

I can't really take credit for this simple outfit guys. Some days I am super inspired to put together interesting outfits that scream my name.  Today my outfit screams someone else's name: Emma Stone.  I straight up stole homegirl's look for this one. She masters the effortless color block, especially with red and orange.
Twinsies right? Right?  Riiiight.
