In Kinsey's Wedding

Scot and I were married on September 20 of this year.  It was agreeably the best day of both of our lives.  I wanted to share a few pictures with all of you!
We were married in the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN.  Neither of us are from Tennessee, nor do we have family there.  I have family down in Texas, and when we would drive to visit them we would often stay in Memphis over night.  It become a fun tradition to see the duck walk at the Peabody and party on Beale.  I loved how grand and beautiful the hotel is, especially with the giant fountain in the lobby.

When Scot and I started dating, I told him several times how much I wanted to go to Memphis with him.  We had been dating a few months when he surprised me with Michael BublĂ© concert tickets- in Memphis! It was our first trip together, and I decided to get us a room at the Peabody.  While we were there, we saw a wedding reception.  Scot looked at me and told me he'd marry me in that hotel.

Scot had is tux made custom for him fashioned after the tux his grandfather wore for his wedding.
I had envisioned having my bridesmaid in the same dress, but changing from ivory to black.  I loved the way it turned out, and all my 'maids look beautiful.
Scot and I wrote cards to each other before the ceremony.

My dad's best friend Nelson officiated our wedding.  Since we got married in a hotel by a family friend, I had to write the ceremony myself.  It was less than 20 minutes.  My girlfriends sang a song, Scot and I recited personal vows we wrote and even found a way to Rick Roll our wedding.

After the ceremony, we took photos on the top of the hotel overlooking the Memphis skyline and Mississippi River.  We also managed to sneak some alone time on a horse drawn carriage ride around downtown before we hit the reception.  I had so many special moments from that day I remember, but this our impromptu carriage ride is among my favorites.

Our cake was AMAZING.  The Peabody hotel knows how to make a mean cake.  Our three layer cake was the best tasting wedding cake I have ever had, and I dare to say it won't ever be beat.  Let's just say our top layer, ya know they one you're supposed to eat on your anniversary, was devoured with coffee the next morning.

We decided to serve traditional southern BBQ for our wedding since we got married in Tennessee.  Knowing that we'd be chowing down on some messy eats, I had some bibs custom made for us.  I think they turned out great, and we didn't even spill! Along with the BBQ, we had a dessert buffet as well as our cake.  I doubt anyone left hungry.

During the reception, I surprised Scot with a song.  I had always dreamed about singing to my husband on our wedding day, but I was so worried that I would burst into tears.  I held it together though!
We hired a caricature artist to sketch our guests as wedding favors.

And then we danced all night...

These photos are beautiful and you made a gorgeous bride. I think that weddings with a bunch of personal touches are THE BEST! How special that Scot's tux was made after one his grandfather wore and that you got married in a place so special to you both. And what a great idea to do caricatures for your guests! I've never heard of that! Thanks for sharing these!
