15 Best of 2015

2015 has been a wonderfully chill year.  2014 was a whole lot of crazy for me.  I got married, bought a house, adopted a puppy and went on some great travels.  On New Year's Eve last year my husband and I promised to take a year and just chill out.  I have loved every minute of it.  Here are my 15 favorite looks from 2015.  Which is your favorite?

Pit Stop

Today was a busy productive day.  Both my husband and I had the day off work and were able to get some Christmas business taken care of.  Running errands requires a caffeinated pitstop, no?  We stopped by our favorite local coffee shop Hubbard & Cravens for drinks before heading out for the day.

Scot is one of those people who changes his order every time he visits a restaurant, and I usually stick with my one or two favorites.  I usually grab an iced mocha or cafe mocha depending on the temperature, but I switched it up and got a blackberry Italian soda instead.  If you're in the Indianapolis area, you gotta check these guys out.  It's the best coffee shop in Indy in my humble opinion!

Crisis Averted

Yesterday was set up to be a wonderful and relaxing day.  Scot was out of town, so I had plans to relax with the pups, meet up with a girlfriend for some vintage shopping and get up close and personal with my Netflix account.  Someone else had different plans for me, because as I was settling in for a fun day I noticed water coming out of the baseboards.  Uh oh.  Not good.

Our nearly 20 year old water heater finally met its maker, and it decided to kick the bucket when I was home alone.  Normally my husband would have jumped right into action getting everything coordinated and cleaned up, but he was over five hours away.  Panic mode activated!  Luckily I had a backup plan.  I did what any independent woman would do- call daddy.

So when everything was cleaned up and drying out, I asked my girlfriend if she was still down to check out the new vintage shop nearby.  I didn't feel like getting glammed up after my eventful Sunday, so I threw this cashmere sweater over my track pants, put on my coat and dashed out the door.  The luxe turtleneck and chic coat elevated this otherwise gym-worthy outfit.

Oh hi!  Meet Peabody, the newest addition to my Scottie clan.  I have a husband named Scot and two Scottish Terriers, so I've officially become obsessed with all things Scottie.  This little guy is 8 weeks old, and is actually Miss Pearl's brother.  He's such a sweetie, no?

Cable Knit Cropped Sweater

I snagged this oversized cropped sweater earlier this year at Banana Republic after spending the day at a work conference.  I figured that since I was filling my brain with knowledge I might as well drain my wallet of money.  Except, in a stroke of luck I hit an awesome sale day and picked this up for less than 20 bucks!  I love scoring great deals, especially around the holidays.

I have had a self imposed semi-shopping ban on clothing over the past few months.  I don't go clothing shopping anymore.  If I happen to be and see something that catches me eye, I'll really assess if I need it.  Sure I love those cute pumps, but I have dozens of pairs in my lineup.  That coat may be fabulous, but how many winter coats can one closet hold?  If it's something unique that I want, I'll get it if the price is right.  Nothing unless it's on sale.  These rules have kept me from being impulsive and buying things I don't need.

Wild Thing

It is not my style to buy something I only intend to wear once.  I will rarely go buy an outfit for a specific event, because over time I have amassed something for almost any occasion.  This jumpsuit was originally planned as an exception to this rule.  I bought it in the summer of 2014 to wear to a concert thinking I probably wouldn't wear it again.  Boy was I wrong.  Not only did I wear this to the concert, but I've found several ways to make this work since then.  Trust me when I say that finding ways to wear a leopard print jumpsuit is a real task!  This little gem is definitely getting tucked away in my suitcase when I travel to Vegas for my 30th next year!

Pink Lady

I'm not much of a pink girl, but I have a few items here and there in various shades.  I find it feminine and playful, but it can seem adolescent in the wrong context. The combination of dusty rose and bright baby pink was quite unexpected.  I initially paired the soft pleats with the fun polka dot print of the sweater without planning to wear a coat over it.  Despite temperatures being the 60s, intermittent rain meant I needed a light jacket.  While sifting through my coat closet this pink rain coat caught my eye and I just decided that two pinks are better than one!
