Follow the Leader

Let's talk about this dress for a sec.  How cute is this?!  I love the whimsical print, and the conservative cut makes it appropriate for work.  I love when clothes pull double duty as workwear and playwear.  Lately I have found myself not purchasing items that I can't wear at work.  It's a good way to stretch my style budget and keeps me from jumping on too many trends that won't transition well.

Speaking of stretching my style budget, I am contemplating doing a self-imposed 30 for 30 here soon (check out my previous challenges here and here).  The challenge to make 30 pieces into 30 different outfits for a month along with the purchasing ban may be just what I need to jump start my creativity and make me appreciate what I already have.  It's so easy to get sucked into wanting to blow your bank account on clothes that ultimately have absolutely no affect on your quality of life.  Honestly, I am just as happy without the new coat I've been eyeing at Nordstrom as I would be with it.  Keep your eyes peeled for my upcoming 30 for 30!

Elephants are my FAVORITE!!!! So naturally I love this dress! And I love the pattern mixing and fun use of blue! I've always wanted to do a 30 for 30 but never got around to it. Maybe it's time to do one for 2015!
