30x30 28: Casual Friday

With only two more outfits to go before I complete my 30 for 30 Challenge, I have been looking back over my items and pulling out those that haven't had much love.  Both these red trousers and tee have only been featured once, so I thought I should bring them together for an update casual look.  What better day than Friday to feature this?  TGIF!

30x30 27: Forever 29

I remember buying this shirt nearly four years ago when I was in Texas with my dad for a therapy conference.  We had some time to kill and decided to peruse the shops in between seminars.  I walked into the Forever21 and saw this and immediately knew I wanted it.  Now I don't go into F21 anymore because I feel like a great-grandmother trying to party at an 18 and over discotheque.  I am glad I have it, and it had really held up well compared to many of the other F21 purchases I have made over the years.

I, for one, wouldn't want to remain 21 forever.  Who wants to relive the crazy year where you're learning how to hold your alcohol (I was not a big underage drinker in college), studying to try and keep your grades up in college and don't have any clue what "real life" is yet.  I wouldn't mind being Forever29 because I'm happier now than I have ever been!

30x30 26: Do Over

Yesterday I featured this dress as a skirt by wearing a flannel tucked into a wide belt over top.  Today I'm switching things up by wearing it as a blouse.  I love creating two completely different looks with one dress, because I am getting so much more wear out of one item.   Are you sick of me using this trick yet?  Get used to it, because it is here to stay!

I am kinda loving the colors in today's look. I am sure that some fashion design student somewhere is cringing at the color combo, but I wear what I like.  Red, purple and turquoise?  Seems legit to me!

30x30 25: Nip/Tuck

I can't believe it's been over two weeks since I have made a post.  I needed a new (insanely small) battery for my camera remote, and I never remembered to swing by the store to get it and then Orange is the New Black happened and I was a lost cause.  So I'm back with my 30x30 trying to pull off flannel in 80 degree weather!

This outfit features my saving grace for the challenge: wearing a dress as wither a top or a skirt.  I took my flannel, knotted it at the waist and tucked it under a wide belt.  I wore that over this dress and voila!  New skirt! I have utilized this so many times over the past few weeks to get more mileage out of my 30 pieces.  I only have five more outfits left, and I can guarantee I'll pull this trick out again.

30x30 24: Orange You Glad?

This skirt is quickly becoming the MVP of the 30 for 30 Challenge.  The black and white pattern essentially makes it a neutral in my book.  Styling this skirt has been easy peasy to style.  It goes with almost any top I've picked in my 30, so I'm sure you'll be seeing it again before the challenge is over.

Speaking of the challenge, I am still feeling pretty good about it.  The only problem I have had is that I chose my picks in April when there was still a chill in the air and now moving into June I am finding that too many of my picks are cool weather choices!  It's fine in an air conditioned office, but it really gets sticky when the temps are in the 80s!  Next time I will do my challenge in the middle of a season, not during transitions months.

30x30 23: Americana

What more could a girl ask for in a casual outfit?  Comfy jeans? Pattern mixing? Red, white and blue?  Yes yes and yes!  I don't think I would have ever pulled this outfit out without participating in the 30 for 30 Challenge.  Combinations that I wouldn't have even thought of before become necessity in the late stages of the challenge.  I was actually pretty pleased with this look, and loved how USA! I felt wearing it.  I'm hoping this little cold front we've got around Indy to move on any day now so I can stop wearing sweaters and long pants!

30x30 22: Marigold and Violet

Even though it's June, the temperatures here in the Midwest are actually pretty cool.  I figured I should take advantage of all the cool weather and wear my "cold weather" items while I still can before the heat makes them unbearable.  I paired this marigold sweater with my favorite peplum skirt.  I love the color combination here, and it's one I haven't featured before.  Paired with simple nude heels and a colorful necklace this look is one of my favorites of the challenge so far!

30x30 21: Dash

This time during my last challenge  I was feeling ready to give up and move on.  I was sick of my 30 items, and inspiration was fading fast.  This time around I have made better choices (only favorites please!) so that I could probably go well beyond the 30 outfits I have planned. Doing this challenge has shown me how much easier it is to work with a limited wardrobe than I origianlly thought.  Without tons of options weighing me down, I can usually be dressed and ready to go in under three minutes.  Before the challenge I would try on tons of different outfits/combinations before I ran out of time and had to dash out the door.  Perhaps a closet purge is in order?

30x30 20: Same Ingredients

The goal of my 30 for 30 Challenge is not only to find appreciation for what clothing I already own, but to inspire me to wear them in ways I haven't before.  Earlier in the challenge I grabbed my favorite wrap dress and layered a chambray underneath.  This time I decided to let the chambray shine and wear it over the dress.  I tucked it into a wide belt to turn my dress into a skirt.  Essentially I took the same 3 basic pieces (wrap dress, chambray and black boots) and made two different looks.
