The first day the forecast was set with a high of 70 I did a little flip because it's officially jacket season again!  I have a separate jacket and coat closet and never peek in there during warmer months, so I am always happy to rediscover my cool weather toppers once the leaves start to change.  The last time I sported this jacket was the day my little niece was born back in March, so it's been a long time!  It's not super chilly yet, and I can still get away with bare legs.  Basic much?

I was hoping that in my 30s I was past the days of name calling, but boy was I wrong!  I was called Beetlejuice no less than 6 times (yup, I counted after I noticed I was getting the comment a lot) while wearing this look recently.  I found it odd, because I've worn this sweater before and received nothing but compliments!  Oh well, I have a sense of humor about myself and the way I dress.  You have to have thick skin if you put yourself out there on the internet, right?  At least I know what I'm going as for Halloween!

Last week Scot and I celebrated our two year wedding anniversary.  More accurately Scot was away for work and I was at home sick all day going through tissues like my life depended on it.  Super romantic stuff here folks!  This weekend we also celebrated his 30th birthday, so we decided to commemorate the occasion with some photos.  We have done this each year in the fall for several years, and I am always happy to have some nice recent photos of us that aren't snapped with our iPhones or saved from my Snapchat reel.  I'd highly recommend this, because I already cherish our past pictures so I know I'll be glad to have these when we are older.

Alma Mater

Boiler Up!  I am a proud Purdue Boilermaker, but outside of my beloved ratty Purdue sweatpants I don't often wear the gear I amassed in my 4 years there.  Maybe it's because it can be difficult to dress up an old college tee.  I found my new favorite way to support my team with this mix of casual and dressed up.  How do you show love for your alma mater?

Get Red-y

Let's talk about classic workwear.  Over the past few years I have steered away from buying anything that can't be worked into my professional wardrobe.  Sure I'll buy some nice denim for the weekend, but overall if I can't wear it in multiple settings I just don't buy it.  This look is what I would consider my "typical" work outfit.  A patterned blouse and a skirt with pumps.  Not groundbreaking by any means, but something that can be reworked a hundred different ways.  Anyone else in the same boat?

So here is the dilemma every fall fashion loving gal can relate to.  You're so excited for fall styles (scarves! booties! jackets!) that you just go for it while neglecting to check the weather report.  You throw on a scarf because, hey it's almost fall right?  The day may start off okay since September days start off a bit chilly.  By noon you'v got a serious case of Sweaty Neck Syndrome going on, and the only prescription is to remove said scarf.  BUT.   You don't.  Because.  So you just suffer all day with a sweaty neck.  Why do we do this to ourselves?  Oh, it's only me?  Well then, disregard today's post.  (Don't really.  I suffered in this scarf for you so you better at least look at the pictures.)

Sweater Love

I took a pass on the recent off the shoulder flowy blouse and dress trend earlier this year.  Seeing it on every blogger alive made it seem kind of silly, and I just never got into it.   You can file those lace up flats from a few seasons ago and personalized straw hats in the same "ugh, again?" category.  However, I have to say that I'm not hating on the OTS sweater for fall.  Bring them on!  I was checking out at Banana Republic recently and there was a print of a model wearing this sweater.  I hadn't seen it in the store, so I immediately made the associate take me to it.  It was in my bag and going home with me in less than 2 minutes.  Can you blame me?  It's adorable!

Trash to Treasure

As fall approaches I can already feel myself falling back into my black, white and red go-to color palette.  I don't mind because these colors are classic, but I have to be careful not to find myself in a color rut like last year!

I scored this skirt at a second hand shop for about $12.  I love finding little gems like this in thrift shops.  One woman's trash is another woman's treasure!
