I live in a house built in the 40s, and I'm not sure what people wore back then but I can tell you it probably wasn't much at all because those closets are TI-NEE. I have had to get creative to make everything fit, even with a huge closet purge prior to moving in three years ago. One of my solutions was to take everything I wasn't in love with or didn't fit quite right and either donate it or store it in hopes I would fall in love with it again someday. I got rid of a lot, but hung on to about two large tubs worth of "maybe someday" clothes.
Recently my husband forced me to downsize this storage, so I went through and got rid of some items (remember the days of "going out shirts"?!), but also found a bunch of stuff I forgot I loved! Enter this dress. I bought this in Portland back in 2010 and wore it a ton for a few summers. Now it's back in my closet again! I love shopping from my old clothes, because it's like "new" free clothes!
